About Us
The North Orange County Paranormal Society, also known as ParaUnit, serves as a valuable resource for individuals seeking to comprehend their paranormal encounters. If you are unfamiliar with our organization, it may be due to not exploring the appropriate avenues. NOPS/ParaUnit, along with our affiliated groups, is well-regarded within the paranormal community by genuine investigators. Our services are provided at no cost, and we strive to document unusual phenomena through a scientific lens. It is important to clarify that we do not engage in hunting, extermination, pest control, or entertainment. The realm of the paranormal is ever-evolving, and no one can claim to be an expert; however, we do have skilled investigators who can offer insights based on successful strategies employed with previous clients to mitigate activities that may have paranormal origins.
When you initiate a request for an investigation, our case manager will conduct a phone interview to discuss your experiences and concerns. Following this, we may deploy a preliminary Scout team to assess your location before arranging a first-time investigation, which serves as a smaller-scale inquiry to gather initial findings. If this initial assessment indicates significant activity, we will proceed with a comprehensive investigation, utilizing advanced technology and additional team members as necessary. Typically, we do not mobilize the entire team for initial visits, and our technical department may only be engaged later if required. Should we fail to uncover any evidence, we will advise clients to monitor the activity themselves and maintain communication with us for potential follow-up visits. Clients will receive guidance on documenting their experiences to help us formulate the best course of action in our absence.
We will conduct a thorough investigation of your home or business with a skeptical approach, as is standard practice for investigators. This initial step is crucial to eliminate the possibility of man-made contamination, ensuring that clients are not misled into believing their space is haunted. Our process begins with taking measurements and baseline readings to identify any interference from electrical devices, electromagnetic signals, and other potential sources. This method, known as the "Process of Elimination," allows us to focus on any unexplained activity. During this phase, we will carry out experiments using our specialized equipment. Once we ascertain the nature of the phenomena, we can proceed with appropriate solutions for the client, which may include referring the case to experts who specialize in the specific type of activity, supported by the data and evidence we have gathered.
TRUST:
We adhere to a stringent Code of Ethics in our investigations of private businesses. It is common for owners to prefer not to allocate funds for employee oversight during our late-night and early-morning inquiries, which is entirely understandable. Business owners place their trust in us to conduct thorough investigations. We encourage businesses to keep their security camera systems operational throughout the process, as this can provide valuable verification of our findings.

NOPS was founded in 2005 by Jim VanEckhoutte and Sam Neill, inspired by their personal encounters with the unknown. In 2007, the organization introduced NOPStv, a free internet television channel on Mogulus.com, which later became Livestream in 2009. This channel featured educational programming on paranormal topics and live investigations. However, NOPStv ceased operations in 2017 due to rising operational costs and the emergence of newer free streaming platforms like YouTube. NOPS had previously launched its YouTube channel in 2004 under the name NOPStube, which is now known as NOPS tube 4K.

We are located in Southern California and serve the West Coast, including Arizona, Nevada, and Northern California. What we provide is entirely authentic.

EVENTS:
We will occasionally host pre-paid public investigation events and fundraisers during the year for educational purposes that will give the public a chance to see what it's like to investigate the paranormal and experience what we experienced. Fees for these events will go to the location for restoration purposes and expenses for the event itself.
